This is a translated version of a Chinese poem, the original is as follows: 小姑娘 (诗)

I wrote this little poem (Chinese) few years ago. It is a true story of a 80s female friend.

Little Girl

Author: Standat

In the 1980s, on a summer day,
A little girl was born in a small town.
With big eyes, a high nose, and long long eyelashes,
She was lively and joyful, mischievous and stubborn.
At a young age, she rolled down the stairs,
Scaring her father and mother.

Time flies, birds sing, and grass grows,
The little girl grows into a young girl.
With a melon seed face and a ponytail, neither thin nor fat,
She is elegant and gentle, studious and cheerful.
At the age of eighteen, she entered university,
Even became a student leader.

Graduation, Exams, Job hunting, Drifting in the city,
Too many challenges brought illness to the little girl.
Couldn’t sleep and eat, feeling low and disheartened,
She is sensitive and fragile, lonely and wounded.
Her family helped her overcome the gloom,
At twenty-seven, she had experienced life and death,
And gained maturity.

In October that year, with crisp autumn air,
A young boy came into the life of the little girl.
With single eyelids, a square face, and not-so-perfect teeth,
He wasn’t handsome, not tall, had no car or house,
But fate intervened, and she was struck by Cupid’s arrow,
Love came unexpectedly.

Two years of love, they tied the knot,
The little girl became a bride.
In a red dress, high heels, and adorned with bridal makeup,
She was charming and mature, confident and radiant.
At the wedding, friends and family gathered,
Witnessing her blissful appearance.

Two years later, sweet love has a fruit,
The little girl became a mother.
Rosy and wrinkled, weighing eight pounds,
The baby was adorable and healthy, with tiny hands and feet.
From that moment, her motherly love overflowed,
Having the power to warm the whole world.

Seasons passed, seven years in a blink,
The little girl was becoming a first-grade parent.
Full of excitement and joy, dressing up her little student,
She runs here and there, worrying and rushing.
Unexpectedly, a great disaster struck, leaving her husband in prison,
The sky was collapsing, the future was uncertain.

Suffering, waiting, three years passed,
The little girl became an iron lady.
With tears in her eyes, gritting her teeth, striving without despair,
She was brave in the darkness, strong in the storms.
The sky hasn’t collapsed yet,
Because she is carrying it on her shoulders.

Another year passes, a moment of reunion,
The little girl smiles like a blooming flower.
She laughs first, then cries, experiencing joy and sorrow,
Youthful and beautiful, safe and healthy.
Her family sends birthday wishes,
And he, absent for four years, personally lights the candles.

Many, many years later,
The little girl becomes an old lady.
With a melon seed face and white hair, neither thin nor fat,
She is hard of hearing and forgetful, impatient and absent-minded.
An old man always stays by her side,
With single eyelids, a square face, and almost-gone teeth,
He follows closely, his little girl.
